Shoichi Sakakibara Executive Deputy President

Mr. Sakakibara joined Polaris in July 2026 and is responsible for sourcing activities. Prior to Polaris, Mr. Sakakibara was Senior Advisor at Blackstone. He previously served as President and Representative Director, and later as Chairman and Representative Director at Japan Bond Trading Co., Ltd.. Before joining Japan Bond Trading, he worked at Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. He joined Nomura Securities in 1986, where he was primarily engaged in investment banking. During his tenure, he held a number of senior leadership positions, including Senior Managing Director in charge of Public Sector Institutions (2009), Senior Managing Director in charge of Financial Institutions and Public Sector Institutions (2012), Senior Corporate Managing Director in charge of Investment Banking (2014), Executive Vice President in charge of Investment Banking and Head of Investment Banking Japan Coverage (2017), and Vice Chairman (2019). Mr. Sakakibara received a bachelor’s degree in Business from Osaka City University (now Osaka Metropolitan University).
